Complimentary LawLogix webinar on I-9 Compliance features special appearance from Paul Virtue, former executive associate commissioner and general counsel of the US Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and author of the 1997 INS policy memorandum on the Good Faith Compliance Defense.
PHOENIX, Ariz., March 31, 2011- LawLogix Group, Inc., the leader in I-9 and E-Verify Compliance Software, announced today that it will host a unique three-part webinar series on the new reality of Form I-9 audits. Featuring a special appearance from Paul Virtue, former executive associate commissioner and general counsel of the US Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and author of the 1997 INS policy memorandum on the Good Faith Compliance Defense, this webinar series will explore the major policy changes at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), recent I-9 enforcement trends, and new electronic tools which facilitate compliance with frequently changing rules. Employers are encouraged to register early for these unique learning sessions (which begin next Wednesday) as space is limited.
“Managing Form I-9 compliance is becoming an even more critical task for organizations across the U.S, with increasing worksite investigations, significant penalties and fines, and the expansion of E Verify,” said John Fay, who serves as General Counsel of LawLogix while also managing the company’s comprehensive I-9 and E-Verify news blog. “Over the past few months, we’ve received dozens of emails asking about ICE’s current enforcement policies and I-9 auditing practices as employers brace themselves for the inevitable audit. It’s a difficult and constantly changing area of employer compliance, which calls for thorough planning and coordination with trusted legal counsel.”
Dan Siciliano, co-founder of LawLogix and Director of Stanford’s Rock Center for Corporate Governance, reiterated this message while also promoting the value of continuous employer education. “For many companies, the I-9 audit process is deeply shrouded in mystery and there is a constant struggle to learn some very complex and often contradictory rules in order to avoid government penalties,” said Siciliano. “We hope this webinar series will shed some much-needed light on this process by examining both the policy and practical realities of ICE audits from people in the know. It’s certain to be a very informative learning series, and we sincerely thank all of our attorney panelists for lending their significant expertise.”
Each one-hour session in this three-part series is presented live and online by recognized experts in the field. The first webinar also features Charles M. Miller, co-author of the American Bar Association’s best-seller Immigration Compliance Auditing for Lawyers. Released in March 2011, the book is already considered an indispensable resource, found on the desktops of leading attorneys and I-9 compliance professionals alike.
